Monroe Village

A thoughtfully planned community for Monroe, NC

A Better Plan for Monroe

We believe good development starts with listening. We are grateful to the community members who have shared their feedback and supported Monroe Village. In response, we have made meaningful changes to the plan, including reducing the number of homes by 163 compared to what could be built under existing zoning, increasing single-family lot sizes, adding community amenities, and introducing a daycare along Weddington Road.

Monroe Village would bring a retail village with a proposed Harris Teeter grocery store, new restaurants and services, more than $5 million in transportation improvements, over 70 acres of preserved open space, connected trails and sidewalks, and a variety of housing choices. Explore below to learn more about the plan and its benefits to Monroe.

What Approval of Monroe Village Delivers

The property can be developed under its existing zoning. Approval of Monroe Village allows for a more comprehensive plan that brings together the retail, infrastructure, housing, and open space improvements proposed for the community.

Without approval of the proposed rezoning, the property can still be developed, but the coordinated Monroe Village plan and the benefits above would not be delivered as proposed.

What Monroe Village Means for Weddington Road

Monroe Village would fund more than $5 million in transportation improvements designed to improve traffic flow, access, pedestrian connectivity, and safety along Weddington Road and the surrounding road network.
